About Edmanphoto

From just nature to natural and cultural moments

I saw photo moments already as a child, well before I actually got going with photography. And even in my early 20s I had still not aquired that much momentum. But I soon picked up the pace and when I started combining photography with travels and a number of volunteer projects, things really got going when it came to producing photos. Early on my focus was almost exclusively on nature photography - capturing that perfect moment of that iconic species or landscape. But after some time my focus shifted somewhat and more human culture has come into the mix. By now I was really into all of this, trying to forever capture the moments as my eyes saw them. I even contemplated abandoning my career in teaching and the thoughts of going back to chemistry for a try as a full time photographer. (Yes, I actually have my master in chemistry rather than biology, even though my studies contained quite a lot of biology as well as physics and mathematics). But I continued to combine my teaching profession with photography, which is quite a satisfying combination of intensely social work with more lone work. The downside is the fact that you cannot take off on a long photography project just any time of year. Nowadays, my goal is still to forever capture that moment as my eyes see it. There is no AI involved in my photos. That is not because I consider it cheating, you can make incredibly fascinating pictures with the help of AI. No, it is simply because I want to show what I actually saw in that moment. Hence the slogan “What you see is what I saw”.
